Subject: Q (boot messages, GA-MA770T-UD3P): "ACPI Exception:
AE_NOT_FOUND, While evaluating Sleep State" and others
Hi!
I have questions on some boot error messages for my AMD Phenom2 system (GA-MA770T-UD3P board):
: kernel: mtrr: your CPUs had inconsistent variable MTRR settings
: kernel: mtrr: probably your BIOS does not setup all CPUs.
For this message there are no futher details; I can only guess.
: kernel: ACPI: Added _OSI(Module Device)
: kernel: ACPI: Added _OSI(Processor Device)
: kernel: ACPI: Added _OSI(3.0 _SCP Extensions)
: kernel: ACPI: Added _OSI(Processor Aggregator Device)
: kernel: ACPI: Interpreter enabled
: kernel: ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, While evaluating Sleep State [\_S1_] (20150410/hwxface-580)
: kernel: ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, While evaluating Sleep State [\_S2_] (20150410/hwxface-580)
: kernel: ACPI: (supports S0 S3 S4 S5)
So I guess the system has no sleep sattes S1 and S2; right?
: kernel: ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (domain 0000 [bus 00-ff])
: kernel: acpi PNP0A03:00: _OSC: OS supports [ExtendedConfig ASPM ClockPM Segments MSI]
: kernel: acpi PNP0A03:00: _OSC failed (AE_NOT_FOUND); disabling ASPM
: kernel: PCI host bridge to bus 0000:00
What's the problem with _OSC here?
I also don't understand these:
: kernel: pnp 00:01: disabling [mem 0x00000000-0x00000fff window] because it overlaps 0000:01:00.0 BAR 6 [mem 0x00000000-0x0007ffff pref]
: kernel: pnp 00:01: disabling [mem 0x00000000-0x00000fff window disabled] because it overlaps 0000:02:00.0 BAR 6 [mem 0x00000000-0x0000ffff pref]
(somewhat later)
: kernel: pci 0000:01:00.0: BAR 6: assigned [mem 0xfb000000-0xfb07ffff pref]
: kernel: pci 0000:02:00.0: BAR 6: assigned [mem 0xfdc00000-0xfdc0ffff pref]
So is the first block just a warning that the PnP system found a conflict _before_ assigning final address ranges, or what does it mean?
(later)
: kernel: ACPI: processor limited to max C-state 1
Does this mean AMD powersaving is not working well?
: kernel: ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000000B00-0x0000000000000B07 conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000000B00-0x0000000000000B0F (\SOR1) (20150410/utaddress-254)
Can someone explain what this means?
Networking:
: kernel: r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded
: kernel: r8169 0000:02:00.0: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM control
So power management for the NIC doesn't work?
: kernel: sp5100_tco: SP5100/SB800 TCO WatchDog Timer Driver v0.05
: kernel: sp5100_tco: PCI Revision ID: 0x3c
: kernel: sp5100_tco: failed to find MMIO address, giving up.
Does this mean a watchdog was found and cannot be used for some obscure reason?
Kernel is from openSUSE Leap (42.1):
4.1.13-5-default #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 26 16:35:17 UTC 2015 (49475c3) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
