FWIW, my versino of gcc:

  gcc (GCC) 4.8.5 20150623 (Red Hat 4.8.5-4)

I gave the patch a quick test and it loaded without any warnings on
boot. I also gave it a few rmmod / modprobe cycles and didn't see any
further warnings.
