Sorry for the delay on getting back to you.  Somehow this always ends up

I guess it's kind of dependent on where you start from.  To my mind this
is very much a standard encoder based counter with the non encoder mode
thrown in for the 'odd occasional use', whereas to you it's the other way
around ;)
