Subject: Re: [PATCH v3 2/5] [media]: rockchip/rga: v4l2 m2m support

Hi Jacob,

A quick review below:

What other operations are supported by the HW but not (yet?) in this
driver?

Since you are supporting VIDIOC_CREATE_BUFS you need to add this check:

	if (*nplanes)
                return sizes[0] < f->size ? -EINVAL : 0;

No need, *nbuffers is never 0.

If ret != 0 then you need to return all queued buffers back to vb2 (vb2_buffer_done)
with state VB2_BUF_STATE_QUEUED. Similar to what you do in stop_streaming, but with
state QUEUED instead of ERROR.

I'm pretty sure you need to add:

        .wait_prepare           = vb2_ops_wait_prepare,
        .wait_finish            = vb2_ops_wait_finish,

otherwise you'll have potential locking problems.

VB2_USERPTR should only be used if the DMA is able to handle partial
pages. I.e. the memory allocated by malloc() will start at a 8 byte
aligned address in the middle of a page, and ditto for the last page.

If the DMA cannot handle this, then you shouldn't set this streaming
mode. Same for the capture queue below.

Don't set the name. This is supplied by the v4l2-core (see v4l2-ioctl.c) to ensure
consistent naming between drivers.

Drop this, no need to spam the kernel log.

This should be something like: "platform:rga"

Drop these two lines. Instead set the device_caps of struct video_device and
the v4l2 core will fill in these two fields for you.

Drop this, the description is filled in by the v4l2 core.

Nack. Implement the selection API instead. The crop API is deprecated and must
not be used in new drivers. And it almost certainly doesn't do what you expect
for a m2m device.

Look at existing m2m drivers that support g/s_selection and see how it is done
there.

Use -1 instead of 0. You also need to move this to the end of this function:
as soon as the video node is created it can be used, so you better do that
when everything has been initialized.

Use video_device_node_name() to get the name.

Is this the HW version number? If so, then that would be useful to log here.
