Hi,
Is this still a problem?

If so, what CPU (arch/) are you using?
What type of block device(s) for /dev/sda?

Could you do a git bisect?

Any boot logs available?

You may have better luck with linux-ide@...r.kernel.org (for ATA drives) or
linux-scsi@...r.kernel.org (for SCSI drives).
