Very nice.  A couple of real nitpicks inline that would be nice to
tidy up if you have time.  If we hadn't just missed the coming merge window
(I'm about to go on vacation) I might have taken this anyway.

I don't think it actually matters, but a very slight preference for doing this
before the local changes so the predisable is in the reverse order of the
postenable and meets my favourite 'obviously right' aim.
