One idle thought, how much would the performance suffer if we moved
the parallel path over to the new gpiod_get/set_raw_array_value and friends?

If would relax some of the constraints on where this could be used.

There are some ordering issues in probe that need fixing.

There are also a few places where it feels 'racey' and might
need more comments to say why data is definitely ready when we try
to read it for example.

So nearly there, but one more cleanup series I think!

Is that true?  It looks to me like you are doing the endian unwinding

I'm not sure which this should be in, but postenable should be balanced
by actions in predisable, not postdisable.

It probably doesn't actually matter in reality but if there is a reason

I don't like the mixing the regulator disable in with devm functions
as it means the unwind is not the opposite order of the setup.

Could use a devm_get_action_or_reset to tidy this up rather than
having a remove.  Up to you though as either is fine.

Actually given the ordering issues in probe, I would go for it
