I just tested your v2 iteration here Eugen, and confirmed, yes it does indeed work with my setup and obviously no longer gets a kernel oops as was happening for me in the previous version of the driver.
>
> One thing I would like to comment about my setup, is that while it is a YUV type format, rather than the format in the driver (V4L2_PIX_FMT_YUYV), my setup actually uses V4L2_PIX_FMT_UYVY. In the previous version of the driver, I actually made modifications in my tree to support this format.
>
> For quick testing purposes on your patch since the format specification method has changed, I simply replaced V4L2_PIX_FMT_YUYV statements with V4L2_PIX_FMT_UYVY and MEDIA_BUS_FMT_YUYV8_2X8 with MEDIA_BUS_FMT_UYVY8_2X8.
>
> Perhaps this alternative YUV format could be added to the current list as well? Per my test, all of the other settings you have applied in the ISC for YUV work just fine for my setup, I am simply using a different variant of the YUV format. If you don't want to add support for this now, I can certainly submit a future patch as well. Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to test for you also.
Hi Ken,
With this driver reworked, first step was rework itself : fix crash,
format issues, etc.
I tried to keep the same supported formats.
To add additional YUV alternative, one needs to just add the supported
formats inside the structures (have a look at my patch 2/2 which adds
ABGR and XBGR).
Feel free to send a patch on top of that with your format. I will have a
look and test that nothing is broken, but I cannot confirm if your
specific format works, since I do not have your sensor...
The ISC itself cannot output all 4 variants of YUV, but, however, can
dump the format the sensor is using. If the sensor claims it can use a
specific rotation of YUV, we need to configure ISC to have a 8bit raw
dump, and the rotation will be preserved in the output. v4l will also be
notified of the correct rotation via s_fmts and all...
Thanks for testing,
Eugen
