Nitpick: COMPAT_CC_IS_ARM_GCC together with 'grep -q "arm-.*-gcc"'
The patch below allows me to use $(COMPATCC) directly here and also set
either CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT or COMPATCC on the command line:
