Please note that there are a total of 2 (!) users of
subsys_find_device_by_id() only ... makes me wonder if we should get rid
of subsys_find_device_by_id() instead and handle it only in the caller
directly. Rewriting the core (list->tree with all the locking logic)
sounds to me like an unnecessary rework.
