I was wondering if you could kindly consider the block changes in this 
series, since I have now dropped the RFC flag?

I guess patch 5/18 (using pointers to bitmaps) would be of first 
concern. We did discuss this previously, and I think what we're doing 
now could be considered satisfactory.
