This bug was caused by Commit 393c3714081a("kernfs: switch global
kernfs_rwsem lock to per-fs lock").
In kernfs_remove() function, it locks the @kernfs_rwsem then call
_kernfs_remove() on @kn, but _kernfs_remove(kn) will free @root object,
which @kernfs_rwsem belong to.
It also causes use-after-free bug with up_write() called on
@kernfs_rwsem at the end of kernfs_remove() function.
void kernfs_remove(struct kernfs_node *kn)
{
struct kernfs_root *root = kernfs_root(kn);
down_write(&root->kernfs_rwsem);
__kernfs_remove(kn);
up_write(&root->kernfs_rwsem);
}
Best regards,
Phi.
