I guess we can have vendor specific mappings mechanism instead of a global one.
João already added the support to provide vendor specific details in
the driver. We can extend that
to provide vendor specific mapping. The driver code will only use the
default global one in case
a vendor specific is not available.

As this is an improvement on top of the series, I would like to get
this series merged first so that baseline
code is available upstream. We can have a followup series to address
your request.
