"git show" is not limited to commit types:

fatal: ambiguous argument 'eb708': unknown revision or path not in the
working tree.
Use '--' to separate paths from revisions, like this:
'git <command> [<revision>...] -- [<file>...]'

I couldn't find an easy way to count the number of objects per
type in a repository.

In personal conversations with technical people, I call myself a hacker. But
when I'm talking to journalists I just say "programmer" or something like that.
