Dmitrii just proposed translate-vm [1], just x86-only so far. Would be
good to use that scheme, maybe even watch out for chances to factor out
arch-independent logic if there is any.

In general, it would be good to define helpers that can be implemented
by other archs as well and stay away from "lx-<my-special-arch>-*"
unless there is really something valuable to add that only makes sense
for that arch.
