This seem awkward, the purpose of devcd is to collect coredumps not to force the controller to crash to then collect it, so if the controller hasn't crashed it shall not call into devcd, if you doing this as part of handling a hardware error Id recommend doing it as part of hw_error callback, that said be aware that you are probably exposing a vulnerability to your firmware with the code above.
