Various comments inline.

Given you are doing a forwards port I guess the guard() stuff can wait for
a cleanup patch after this merges to make your life a little easier.

You don't yet provide the buffered chardev IIO interface, so this is irrelevant for now.
Add it when you need it only.

Always on unless you provide a strong reason why not.
People don't spend money on a more expensive chip with CRC if they don't want it ;)

Debug information only - if you really want it either break it up into useful things to report
via events etc, or throw it in debugfs.

Userspace controlled what channel was read, so it already knows this.

Convert this to standard sampling_frequency ABI. (1/cycle time)

Documentation needed for all of these.

Note that we are resistant to adding custom ABI to IIO without very strong
reasons. Calibration is probably valid, but the rest don't look it to me.
They should either map to standard ABI Documentation/ABI/testing/sysfs-bus-iio
or not be exposed to userspace at all.

Custom ABI is basically unused ABI as generic software doesn't know about it.
So one of the most important things to do in the IIO subsystem is prevent
it being added unless absolutely necessary.

Even calibration can sometimes be simply moved to device probe time depending on how
it is done (I haven't checked here).

Why? Look it up on data->dev instead. Adding this indirection is pointless given it's
only used here!

As mentioned below, you never do anything with this one, so
	ret = devm_regulator_get_enabled().
and no need to keep a pointer to it around.

	guard(mutex)(&data->lock);

then you can do direct returns on error, simplifying this a little.
Same in other similar cases so I'll stop pointing this out.

This sounds like over sampling. That should be controlled by userspace via
the stand IIO oversampling interfaces.

The IIO core does that for you. So should not be needed

Why? Generally we just use the parent dev for all devm actions as that results in
the correct cleanup. Is there something different going on here.

Squash this with the core file. No benefit in breaking it out to it's own file.

Better to put numbers here so we can immediately see what this is.
Generally using a define for a 'number' that has direct meaning just makes code
less readable. Keep them for encoded values etc.

Use a value or size of where you are storing the data. Also be careful
about DMA saftety as mentioned below.

Buffers passed to spi subsystem for spi_sync need to be DMA safe.
See how we have put them on in the iio_priv() structure + applied specific
alignment in many other drivers to meet this requirement.

This is odd enough that a reference to the relevant diagram or specification section
would be good.
May even be worth some asci art here to explain this a little more clearly.

I think it's fairly unusual for an spi controller to support single bit transfers llike
this. Can you get away with a 8 bit one? I assume what really matters is the
clock signal going up and down.

No need to set things to NULL. C deals with that for you and it's an obvious default that
you've used a few times anyway.

guard(mutex)(&data->lock);
probably helpful here as then you can return directly in error paths and let the autocleanup deal
with it for you. It's a new feature in the kernel so not that many users around yet.

Combining regmap with a function that bypasses regmap feels like a bad idea.
I'd just not use regmap at all for this device as it seems to need too complex
handling. Sometimes it's just not a good fit.

The firmware handling should have already done this for you.
Why do you need to call it here?

That's easily checked anyway so don't print this message.

Where there are a lot of similar registers, you an normally get away with defining
the registers individually etc, but the fields as something like.
ADS7038_HYSTERESIS_CH_HIGH_THRESHOLD_LSB

The second CH0 is probably redundant.

No point in blank lines between these. Just reduces what is on the screen
when someone is reading the code!

So please only put them when they are separating blocks of defines like the
ones above.

The bus drivers will have locks as will regmap. So either you don't need a lock, or
it's protecting some other data?

Never accessed after being set, so no point in keeping it around.

Long line. Aim to wrap below 80 chars unless it is hurting readability.
