Hmmm... I'd consider sanity checking this:

	size_t len;

	/* ... */

	len = strlen(kid);
	if (len % 2) {
		pr_err("Clavis key id has invalid length %lu\n", len);
		return 0;
	}

	hex_len = len / 2;
