I'm a bit confused here because there seem to be codepaths where access
to these fields is guarded by IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_UNICODE) and then theres
one where it's not.
Can't you make this consistent so that all access and the definition of
the members are guarded by CONFIG_UNICODE?
