In the original source code, spin_lock_irqsave is used, it means that 
irq is also taken into account. But in the new code, xa_lock is used. It 
means that irq is not taken into account. Not sure if this will 
introduce risks or not.

Perhaps xa_lock_irqsave/xa_unlock_irqrestore is better?
