Yes; I can try a bisect a bit later; your fix seems to have fixed it if I boot
with console=ttyS0 and -nographic on qemu, which gets me back to booting OK
on serial which is what I normally do. This hide_cursor case is only
with video/console which I don't run very often on this build, so I'll guess
a bit where to start my bisect.
