pm_sleep_ptr() only changes its meaning based on CONFIG_PM_SLEEP:

CONFIG_PM_SLEEP gets enabled if CONFIG_SUSPEND is on:

And CONFIG_SUSPEND has to be on since the whole driver depends on it:
