I forgot earlier: this can also use single line statement

    copylen = max(copylen, ETH_HLEN);

And perhaps easiest to follow is

    copylen = hdr_len ?: GOODCOPY_LEN;
    copylen = min(copylen, good_linear);
    copylen = max(copylen, ETH_HLEN);
