I should clarify, I'm using "ftrace" to reference the "tracing" subsystem,
as "ftrace" technically is the function hook mechanism that is tightly
coupled with every architecture that uses it.
So here, when I say "ftrace" I mean kernel/trace/*, and I really should say
"the tracing subsystem"
