NAK.

The patch in this form has dubious value, and the interactions on this
thread are not encouraging.

I also have pending series this will conflict with.

If a more reasonable approach can be suggested with appropriate on-list
behaviour (I think it'd really need to be an RFC also) then we can take a
look at that.

I think something more logically divided as David suggested could be
workable.
