Every version I've tried crashes. It crashes for me on v6.18 of
arch/arm64/boot/dts/freescale/imx8mm-evk.dts. See
https://github.com/lznuaa/dt-format/issues/4 - reverting the latest
patch resolves the issue.
Is using dt-format really a requirement? If this is a requirement it
should probably be picked up and integrated into the dtc somehow or at
least properly maintained? There are issues reported that appear very
valid to me that have not been addressed in 7 months time among them
being the fact it crashes on most dts and some of the ordering rules
that have not been the norm:

I welcome a tool that helps streamline the dts process but this tool
appears to need some work.
