SIOCADDRT: Invalid argument

Could someone please tell why route addition tells invalid argument ?
Gateway 2::1 is reachable.
[foo:/root] ping6 2::1

64 bytes from 2::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.395 ms
