Perhaps I should add that general info about HSR can be found at

for example. Basically, HSR is a special network topology where all
nodes are equipped with (at least) two physical Ethernet interfaces,
and are daisy-chained together into a ring. Each node forwards all
frames that are not exclusively destined to itself, except for 
frames that have been forwarded before. Each frame is sent in both
directions on the ring by the source node.

The idea is to get instant-failover redundancy.
