Subject: Temporary problem with realtek r8168 nic and r8169 driver
For your information:
Between linux 4.15.0-rc8 and linux 4.16.0.rc2 I had a problem with my realtek 8168 nic and suspend.
After resume from suspend the network was down and the kernel log showed:
pciehp 0000:00:1c.0:pcie004: link training error: status 0x1001
pciehp 0000:00:1c.0:pcie004: Failed to check link status
do_IRQ: 2.34 No irq handler for vector
Linux 4.15.0-rc8 was good and linux 4.16.0-rc2 is good, but linux 4.16.0-rc1 was bad,
as is linux 4.15.4, that is also in Debian as linux-image-4.15.0-1-amd64.

Using the r8168 driver from Debian-non-free worked, but showed in the kernel log:
pciehp 0000:00:1c.0:pcie004: link training error: status 0x1001
pciehp 0000:00:1c.0:pcie004: Failed to check link status
As I didn't see any r8169 related patches between 4.16.0-rc1 and 4.16.0-rc2, the problem
was probably not in the driver.
