Subject: [PATCH v2] staging: intel-gwdpa: gswip: Introduce Gigabit Ethernet Switch (GSWIP) device driver

This driver enables the Intel's LGM SoC GSWIP block.
GSWIP is a core module tailored for L2/L3/L4+ data plane and QoS functions.
It allows CPUs and other accelerators connected to the SoC datapath
to enqueue and dequeue packets through DMAs.
Most configuration values are stored in tables such as
Parsing and Classification Engine tables, Buffer Manager tables and
Pseudo MAC tables.

GWDPA Overview
--------------

Intel's Gateway SoC architecture is designed for high-speeed network
packet processing. The Gateway hardware architecture is designed to have
several centralized HW blocks for networking functions offload and
acceleration of the datapath. These include, but are not limited to the
following:
   - QoS Engine
   - HW Buffer Management
   - Packet Processing Engine
   - Central Queue Manager
   - Switch
   - Segmentation and Reassembly Offload Engine
   - Ipsec and Cypto Offload Engine

These HW blocks are shared across all networking peripherals/interfaces
connected to the SoC.
The HW architecture also enables a high-performance proprietary DirectConnect*
interface for PCIe connected networking interfaces.

The Intel Gateway Datapath Architecture (GWDPA) in SW mirrors the modular and
shared HW resources and engines. The objective of the architecture is to have
   - Shared drivers for SoC dependent HW resources and engines and
   - SoC independent management and abstractions for common for all Intel GWs

These are shared across several peripheral network device drivers that are
connected to the SoC platform.
Figure 1 below shows a simple scenario illustrating the layers involved in
datapath across two network interfaces.

Overview of GWDPA Layers
-------------------------
This section provides a brief overview of generic layers of the
in the GWDPA.

- SoC Dependent Low Level (LL) Drivers:

These drivers are common and act as shared SW for all network
peripheral drivers. Each of these drivers map to a HW engine or
resource. They provide services for HW resource allocation,
connectivity, HW acceleration and offload functions.

- Intel GW specific management frameworks (SoC independent):

DPM: The SoC low-level drivers are managed by a common datapath manager
and library (DPM). The key responsibilities of this layer are resource
    management and connectivity setup.

DirectConnct* Abstraction: Common abstraction for all PCIe connected
networking interfaces leveraging Intel proprietary DirectConnect* SoC
    function.

QoSM: The QoS Manager manages the QoS configuration abstraction to Linux
based and proprietary upper QOS management frameworks. It takes the
services of DPM which provides abstraction to the HW QoS engine.

PPA: Networking acceleration framework manages the low level SoC drivers
for HW acceleration and offload engines. Thus, they are also layered
    above the SoC low-level drivers.

- Peripheral Device Drivers

The networking peripheral device drivers are layered on top of the
DPM or DCDP to receive resource allocation and connectivity services
    to the GW SoC.

The following summarizes the interface and dependencies between the the above
layers:

    - All SoC LL Drivers register "ops" to the DPM
    - DPM exports interfaces to service the Peripheral Device Drivers'
      resource and connectivity requirements.
    - DPM exports interfaces to DCDP, QoSM and PPA to provide access to
SoC LL "ops" and resource/connectivity information associated
      with a network interface.

Linux Intel GWDPA
------------------

    Problem Statement:
    ------------------
The Linux Kernel networking stack is largely structured as follows:
     - /net: Generic and core networking infrastructure.
     - /drivers/net: Placeholder for vendor specific implementations for
networking interfaces, protocols, and some networking frameworks.
For example, Ethernet, WAN, Wireless, PPP, IPVlan, dsa, etc.

The Intel GWDPA peripheral device drivers are a good fit in the following
    locations:
     - /drivers/net/ethernet
     - /drivers/net/wireless
     - /drivers/net/wan

However, the GWDPA SoC LL, management and framework drivers do not map
to any existing kernel driver class.
Note: A typical Ethernet NIC is monolithic -- the NIC device contains
TX/RX queuing mechanisms, configuration mechanisms, buffer management,
physical ports, and interrupts. Correspondingly a typical NIC device
driver also handles all of the above in the single driver.

    Background for Proposed solution:
    ---------------------------------
There are examples of several SoC embedded drivers that do not "fit"
into any specific Linux driver class or organization to be placed in
    /drivers/soc.

Some examples below in drivers/soc are similar in scope as the proposed
    GWDPA LL Drivers or frameworks.

    1. SoC Low Level (LL) Drivers
Ixp4xx: SoC based Queue Manager and Network Processor
      - /drivers/soc/ixp4xx/ixp4xx-qmgr.c
      - /drivers/soc/ixp4xx/ixp4xx-npe.c

    2. Vendor specific resource management/abstraction frameworks
     - FSL DPAA - /drivers/soc/fsl/qbman
     - QCOM Shared Memory Manager - /drivers/soc/qcom/smem.c

    GWDPA Linux Drivers:
    --------------------

This section provides an overview of the proposed Linux kernel drivers
    for GWDPA and their organization.

    1. Files organization:

       A. GWDPA SoC specific low level drivers
         - /drivers/soc/intel/gwdpa-<soc>
(See 3 below for description of LL drivers)
---> CQM : Central Queue Manager
         ---> PP: Packet Acceleration Driver
-----> QoS : QoS Engine Driver
-----> BM : Buffer Manager Driver
---> Switch : Switch subsystem Driver
---> VPN: IPsec Offload Engine Driver
---> TOE: Segmentation and Reassembly Offload Engine Driver

       B. GWDPA SoC Management and Absatractions
         - /drivers/soc/intel/gwdpa-dpm
         - /drivers/soc/intel/gwdpa-dcdp
         - /drivers/soc/intel/gwdpa-qosm
         - /drivers/soc/intel/gwdpa-ppa
         - /include/linux/soc/intel/gwdpa-xxx.h

       C. Peripheral Device Drivers
         - /drivers/net/ethernet
         - /drivers/net/wireless
         - /drivers/net/wan

        D. Crypto Offload Driver
         - /driver/net/crypto

    2. The following summarizes the interface and dependencies :

        A. All SoC LL Drivers register "ops" to the DPM.

        B. The management frameworks may export APIs, if needed, to be invoked
from other peripheral device drivers or other GWDPA management
           frameworks.

         - DPM exports interfaces to service the Peripheral Device Drivers'
           resource and connectivity requirements.

         - DPM exports interfaces to DCDP, QOSM and PPA to provide access to
SoC LL "ops" and resource/connectivity information associated
           with a network interface.

    3. For each SoC specific LL driver a brief description is provided below.
Each one is a Linux device bound to the corresponding driver.

        - CQM (Central Queue Manager) Driver: Manages configuration of the CQM
HW module which is a central interconnect for all HW datapath
          blocks in the SoC.

        - QoS Driver manages configuration of the SoC QoS engine.

        - Buffer Manager (BM) Driver manages configuration of HW buffer pools
          and policies for network packets.

        - Switch (GSWIP) Driver manager Intel's next generation Gigabit
Ethernet switch. It is tailored for L2 bridging data plane and QoS
functions as defined in GPON(G.988) and SIEPON(P1904.1). The subsystem
allows mapping from Linux bridge and follows closely
G.988 OMCI packet processing model and BBF TR-156 specification.

        - PP (Packet Processor) Driver is responsible for configuration of
and creation/mofication/deletion of HW accelerated session in Intel
