I am pretty sure I let tcpdump run for the entire time, and killed it with ctrl-c.

The 'ss' output was from several minutes from when the problem started happening
(most likely, it is difficult to know exactly when communication hangs).

I will attempt to reproduce, running the 'ss; date; sleep 5' in a loop for entirety of the test,
and will make sure tcpdump is running for the entire duration.

Would netstat (to show send/rcv buffers) be useful output as well?  Anything else
you'd like to see?
