Lack of development and new features are not really a reasons for
platform removal. Platform can stay in decent shape for many years,
without new features.
Lack of maintenance could be a reason, but first we usually make
platform orphaned to give community a chance. The best reason is lack of
users and any relevance, but your commit msg does not focus on that.
