Subject: [ANN] netdev development stats for 6.12
Intro
-----
As is tradition here are the development statistics based on mailing
list traffic on netdev@...r. The posting is slightly delayed due to
LPC and netconf, sorry about that!
These stats are somewhat like LWN stats: https://lwn.net/Articles/956765/
but more focused on mailing list participation.
Previous stats (for 6.11): https://lore.kernel.org/20240722142243.26b9457f@kernel.org
General stats
-------------
The 6.12 cycle was 1 day shorter than previous cycle (due to LPC).
The mailing list traffic was slightly above average (269 msg/day),
returning to normal after a dip during the 6.11 cycle. netdev
maintainers applied 19 commits a day, which is fairly typical and
recovered from a slight decrease.
Number of patches applied with review tags increased to record 71%
(57.5% when we exclude folks working for the same company). Number of
patch sets applied without any comments on the list (across revisions)
remained at 30%.
Testing
-------
We merged a similar number of changes to selftests (106, up from 104).
Number of ignored (flaky) tests in our CI continues to drop:
- 6.10: 20
- 6.11: 14
- 6.12: 8
The ranking of people who contributed most to selftests:
1 [ 31] Matthieu Baerts
2 [ 9] Ido Schimmel
3 [ 8] Vladimir Oltean
4 [ 7] Dmitry Safonov
5 [ 6] Petr Machata
6 [ 6] Jakub Kicinski
7 [ 5] Willem de Bruijn
8 [ 4] Abhinav Jain
9 [ 3] Jason Xing
10 [ 3] Hangbin Liu
Matthieu contributed a lot to MPTCP selftests, including the ability
to report test case execution time. Willem added first two batches of
packetdrill tests, and associated infra. Ido added tests for DSCP FIB
rule matching, Petr for 16b ECMP weights.
