Subject: SoMud P2P version 1.2.8 <= Insecure DLL Hijacking
	Vulnerability (wintab32.dll)

1. OVERVIEW

The SoMud P2P application is vulnerable to Insecure DLL Hijacking
Vulnerability. Similar terms that describe this vulnerability have
been come up with Remote Binary Planting, and Insecure DLL
Loading/Injection/Hijacking/Preloading.


2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

SoMud--a cross-platform multi-language P2P download and share
application. Embedded Powerful search engine support allows you to
search anything. Simple click to download any file you find - zero
need for any BT (BitTorrent) or P2P knowledge. Search, download and
play your favorite web videos (with embedded player) seamlessly from
youtube, yahoo and more. Preview capability allows you to play media
file while it is being downloaded. Intelligent multiple splitting
support greatly boosts HTTP/FTP download speed. Record your
desktop/screen motion and sound into video to present or to share.
Record any sound from your PC or microphone into MP3. Capture camera
video and audio. Plugin support for converting any audio and video
format.. Easily download web images to your gallery. Create your own
P2P file to share. Support parental control to filter specified
keywords and lock specified content. Support multi-language user
interfaces.


3. VULNERABILITY DESCRIPTION

The SoMud P2P application passes an insufficiently qualified path in
loading its external library -
"wintab32.dll" when a user opens its associated file with extension - torrent .

1.2.8 and probably lower versions

6. IMPACT

Attackers can trigger a successful exploit against a victim user in a
number of ways such as placing a malicious external
library file made as hidden attribute and a seemingly interesting file
in network shares, usb drives, file sharing networks,
social networks, ..etc	


7. SOLUTION

Fixed version from the vendor has not been released yet.
However, it is suggested that the following workarounds be deployed by
users to protect increasing mass exploitation of this
vulnerability class:
- Disable loading of libraries from WebDAV and remote network shares
- Disable the WebClient service
