Well, there's also such a thing as "editing the quoted text." You don't
have to quote someone's entire email to say "read this URL." As an
example, notice how, despite the fact you quoted about seven lines and then
added about seven lines, I'm managing to have more original contribution
without resorting to filler simply by editing down your contribution to the
necessary and useful gist.
