OK, I have observed the lockup now on a vanilla 2.6.30.4 kernel, unpatched &
untainted. So it is now official: 2.6.30 can lock up on dual-P3s.:-(
As I said earlier, bisecting may be unpractical, because each iteration may
take days or weeks. I shall attach some information on my system. In the
syslog, the freeze occured shortly after timestamp 20:20:43. There is nothing
about it in the syslog, only the subsequent reboot.
Please let me know how to proceed.
