scripts/checkpatch.pl doesn't like that:

The reasoning (https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/3/14/558) is:
"If krealloc() returns NULL, it *doesn't* free the original. So any
code of the form 'foo = krealloc(foo, …);' is almost certainly a bug."
