so I was going to publish a new patch set tonight, but now I think I'll
wait for a day or two, since there are potentially more people looking
at 0003 now.

in the meantime, I uploaded the patches to
https://github.com/sergey-senozhatsky/linux-next-ss/commits/printk-kthread

there are some splits/reworks/etc.
