Seems like an oversight of a1ddcbe93010 to leave this redundant lookup,
so it's certainly still relevant to current mainline kernels even if
it's just an efficiency improvement rather than a bug fix.  Perhaps we
should include a Fixes tag to link it back to where it's easily fixed.
