I assume you will want to keep an eye on more than just the parent

this stuff to the commit message, if it isn't already and leave it at

I'm afraid that this is not acceptable. We have APIs to standardise
register handing now, please use those. I understand that it will
take a little bit of effort to convert this to Regmap, but I think it
would be worth it in the end.
