I was gonna say you should avoid transmitting data
in the stack, but then I noticed the I2C core doesn't
complaint about it (doesn't use object_is_on_stack).

Wolfram, does the I2C accept stacked (possibly non-DMA-able) objects?

I believe it's cleaner to use this idiom:

I stopped reviewing at this point. It sounds like this driver
could use some love. (Not sure how this driver stood twenty reviews :-))
