Locking is a good thing, how do you handle locking? I don't see

what is the point of these? Each table is 4 bytes from the last and each
mask is <<8 from the last, just calculate that when you use it. These definitions
are somehow worse than just using magic numbers. :/

All the more reason you should switch to regmap, makes you think about things
like that and make them more sane.

drivers/media has been around for a long time, not every driver is a good example
of current best practices. In fact one of your examples is more than a decade old
and predates regmap itself..

Plus, I *do* see media drivers using regmap and even regmap_field.
