That *is* indeed hard and adding almost unnecessary complications to my submission.

I'd rather get the audio part merged as-is with the old handling at this point...

As you can see, once your HDMI Codec infra gets in a mergeable state the cleanup
(or conversion, however you prefer to call it) in this driver will be mostly
trivial.

This means that whenever your series is ready to merge, I'll be able to send a
(single, most probably) commit updating this driver to use the new helpers in a
jiffy (or two).

I'm still not sure whether I can actually do what you propose because this
IP needs another IP (mtk_dpi) to be in a configured state before this one
gets enabled, or you get a freeze.

I'll check - if that's feasible, I'll add the refcounting and will go for
the hpd_{en,dis}able callbacks.

No, my code is clearing everything, not just the header.

The registers in this IP are sequential, I'm setting the code to start writing
at HEADER, and stop writing at PKTxx, where PKTxx registers contain the infoframe.

In any case, disabling in the IP core is managed by clearing the _EN and _EN_WR
(where WR means "Write", and RPT_EN is "repeat write") bits in the xxx_INFO_EN
register(s), and that's what I'm doing at the beginning, before actually cleaning
the infoframe registers.

Actually, I could've just cleared the EN bits and that would've been enough, but
I wanted to leave the IP in a clean+known state and decided to zero out the entire
infoframe header/data register set.

....but anyway, what you just said before me explaining how this IP works means
that I got it right, and that this function does exactly what it is supposed to do.
