Or for enabling the bridge chip. Or for building the bridge chains
inside Linux kernel...

Also, do we need any special handling for DP++ / HDMI devices being
attached to the bridge?

As I wrote before, you are basically calculating the CRC over the padded
buffer. Please pad the buffer and calculate it over the whole buffer
rather than doing this byte by byte.
