The intellectual property issue has not been resolved as far as I am
aware, and nobody seems to want to take an official stand on that
issue so I refuse to even consider the patch.

In fact, the last time I was CC:'d on private correspondance on this
matter, people on Cisco's end seemed irritated that they were still
being asked about it.  That's not acceptable.

That attitude has to change, because this issue is just as important
as the correctness of the code for inclusion.
