In fact, it's utterly and completely bogus to make only this change.
It breaks the build, I'm reverting:
ERROR: "gre_offload_exit" [net/ipv4/gre.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "gre_offload_init" [net/ipv4/gre.ko] undefined!
