Subject: Linux network subsystem : Implementation intricacies
Hello,
I know emails like these are not welcome. But trust me I am writing in after having done my side of the research and yet the big picture is unclear. I promise I wont send in more emails like this one.
------------------------------------
My problem
------------------------------------
I have finished learning
-C language, pointers, data structures,
-linux kernel development - Robert love
Now I want to learn as to how "Linux kernel network subsystem" not from the user space standpoint but from the kernel side. I have been trying hard to figure the path that I should follow , however, I have not been able to find one.So far this is what i have found out...that I should try & learn
- Computer networks : A. Tanenbaum
- Learn TCP/IP
- Linux Network Internals : O'Reilly
----------------------------------------
My Questions
----------------------------------------
However, I am not sure if this would be the right path to follow or not. Please advise what path should I follow?
Also, I met a few senior developers in my computer institute. They suggested that I should also try & learn linux socket programming & Linux device drivers. Well, Do I need to learn all of that as well?
lastly, Is there any hardware dependency while trying to LEARN OR WORK with linux kernel network subsystem from kernel side. If yes, how to take care of that?
----------------------------------------
Thanks for your patience.Wont bother with such emails.
Regards,
Mohit
