Subject: Re: r8152: v1.09.9 causes Tx status -71
Hello,
I'm having issues with the r8152 driver starting from kernel version 4.13 up to the most recent kernel 4.14-rc7. The hardware is a MS Surface Pro 4 with a MS Surface Dock. I cannot get the network interface up because of this:
[ 3.117945] usbcore: registered new interface driver r8152
[ 3.429350] r8152 2-2.2:1.0 eth0: v1.09.9
[snip]
[ 8.565066] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
[ 8.593831] r8152 2-2.2:1.0 eth0: carrier on
[ 8.593841] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
[ 9.155430] r8152 2-2.2:1.0 eth0: Tx status -71
Everything works fine up to kernel version 4.12.x. Also, using the r8152 driver (drivers/net/usb/r8152.c) from kernel 4.12.x with kernel 4.14-r7 works fine.
Details of my environment you can find in the files attached to this email.
Thanks
Christian
